Margaret Roe Hommema, 86, of Rockford, died Monday, January 25, 1999, in Cor Mariae Nursing Center.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and as an exceptional teacher.  Born January 14, 1913, in England, daughter of Harry and Ethel (Gould) Roe.  Graduated from Rockford Central High School in 1931, and earned her teaching certificate from Northern Illinois University in 1933.  Married Charles R. Hommema in Rockford on June 12, 1937.  She taught in a one-room country school near Pecatonica for eight years, and for 21 years in Rockford at Turner and Church schools; she retired in 1976. 
Member of Faith Lutheran Church, Cameron, WI.  Former member of St. John United Methodist Church, Rockford.  Survivors include husband, Charles; sons,Charles (Donna) Hommema of Elkins, WV and Edward (Linda) Hommema of Rockford; grandchildren, Brian Hommema and Michele Ricotilli of Elkins, Scot (Jennifer) Hommema of Champaign, Eric Hommema of Bowling Green, OH and Kevin Hommema of Rockford; sister, Kathleen Cornelius of Barron, WI; and nephews, Rick Cornelius of Barron and Leigh Cornelius of Oregon.  Predeceased by parents.
Memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 30, in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David H. Barnes, pastor, officiating.  Private burial in Greenwood Cemetary.  No visitation.  After the service a reception will be in the church dining room.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Cor Mariae Nursing Center.  Burpee-Wood Funeral Home, 420 N. Main, assisted the family with arrangements.
