Alva A. Hassell, 66, 1711 Auburn St., a Church School first grade teacher, died of an apparent heart attack at 6:05 p.m. Sunday at Saynor Lodge, Sayner, WI, where she was vacationing.
She had taught about 40 years in Rockford Public Schools. Survivors include her sister, Mrs. Richard Rinker, Burlington, IA.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Julian-Poorman Funeral Home, 304 N. 5th St. Burial will be in Willwood Burial Park.

Alva A. Hassell, 66, 1711 Auburn St., died at 6:05 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 1963, in Saynor Lodge, Saynor, WI., after an apparent heart attack. Born February 23, 1897, in Marinette, WI, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman C. Hassell. Employed as a school teacher in Rockford Public Schools for 40 years. Member of Second Congregational Church, and of Fortnightly Club. Survivors include her sister, Mrs. Richard Rinker, Burlington, IA; one niece, Mrs Dale Fulner, Minot ND; and a nephew, James Rinker, IA.
