Coy Tommie Eason Sr., 48 “Spank”

Rockford- Coy Tommie “Spank” Eason Sr., 48, of Rockford departed this earthly life Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a long illness.  Born Sept. 25, 1954, in Sparkman, Ark., the son of Dale and Tressie Eason.  He lived more than 40 years in Rockford, coming from Sparkman.

Coy married Gloria Hudson in Rockford Feb. 5, 1976.  He was employed as a cook at the University Club before becoming ill.  He attended House of Refuge Church.  Coy attended Rockford public schools, later received his GED and attended Rock Valley College, earning a certificate in food sanitation.

Coy leaves to cherish many memories of his wife, Gloria; sons Lorenzo Johnson and Coy Eason Jr., and daughters Lakeyda and Elizabeth Eason, all of Rockford; grandchildren Zsajeem, Raheem, Rayjeem, Shyheem and Tyjeem; mother, Tressie Sanders of Rockford; brothers Lindale, Lonnie, James, and Louis (Lorraine) Eason; sisters Linda (J.C.) Lambert, Glenda Eason and Brenda Cole; and gracious thanks to special friends Don and Carol Perrin and the Rev. Jerry Bohn.  Coy was preceded in death by his father, Dale Eason; brother Roy “Tommie” Eason; and nephew Marcus Eason.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, in House of Refuge Church, 1401 W. State St., with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time.  Pastor Mark T. Williams will be officiating.  Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.  Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home, 2429 W. State St.
